Active Travel

Active Travel involves walking, cycling and other ways of travel, other than a private car. At a national level, planning and health authorities as well as institutions have addressed the need to plan for more sustainable communities, with a particular emphasis on the benefits to people’s physical and mental health from active living.

Active travel offers significant environmental and health benefits for communities and must be considered in all planning activities ranging from the development of cities and new towns to small infrastructure developments.

TTPP assist government and private companies to plan & implement active travel strategies to better improve the community and assess / design sustainable transport infrastructure which provides long-term community benefit. Such analysis would usually include reviewing existing environments, identifying options for improvement, and then proposing those improvements which would benefit the most users whilst being economical.

Our experience in detailed traffic engineering means that the planning and design of such infrastructure is achieved with an appreciation of the context, impacts and needs of other modes.
